The SNES was designed by Masayuki Uemura, who also designed the original Famicom. Even though genesis led the SNES in sales in 16 bit generation consoles, but the SNES eventually took over as the generation had ended.
Sega genesis was released before SNES which allowed Genesis to gain a lead on marketing campaign. The console was introduced with advanced graphics and sound support, plus development of enhancement chips made it competitive in the market. The super Nintendo entertainment system was first 16 bit video game console released in 1990 in japan, the SNES was a huge success becoming the bestselling console of the era.
